Important message
Artemis crew escaped to the UK for a break whilst it is blowing a F10 in South of France again!!!
We have reached another milestone on our journey to Cyprus, in this update we have crossed the border from Spain to France at 1440pm Wednesday 29th September 2010, clocked up another 1000miles at 1013am traveling to Sete. We are still enjoying our trip and visiting lovely places and meeting lovely people at each of the ports.
Since we entered the Med we have had 8days non sailing because of gales!! Artemis crew are fighting a battle against strong winds, mainly on the nose and are very frustrated as we are not making good progress in clocking up our miles. We arrived at Marseille 7/10/10 staying on an island just opposite Marseille called "Iles du Frioul". Skipper checked weather for next few days and we are expecting another gale F10 coming from SE, the direction we are heading. Feeling very frustrated that we where going to be weather bound for another 4-5days we decided to go back to Southend and visit our daughter rather that sit on the boat listening to the wind. We are currently chilling out spending time with Carrie and recharging our batteries for the final part of our trip. Due to go back Tuesday but we received an email from Easyjet informing us that the French traffic controllers are having a one day strike, we feel there is some force trying to prevent us to finish our trip. Hoping to go back Wednesday and continue on our way.
We still have 4-6 weeks where we can make good progress and get closer to Cyprus if the weather doesn't continue to deteriorate. Keep the messages coming it does help us to know we have you all out the watching our progress and keep your fingers crossed when we head back that the weather improves.
