Update from Artemis crew
01 May 2011
Just a quick update, the parts eventually arrived on Thursday 28th April after waiting for 7 days. So the total days we spent in Crotone was 13days the longest we have ever been in any port.
After rocking and rolling through a second gale in Crotone we waited for the seas to calm then headed across the Golfo di Taranto departing Crotone, Friday 29th April at 5am in the morning as we had to cover 72kn miles. It was a good crossing, we motor sailed with both sails for 7hours then the wind disappeared and we motored the rest but we where able to keep our average speed at 5knts. We arrived safely in Santa Maria di Leuca at 1915pm.
We are currently still here Sunday 1st May as we had F7 South East winds the next day and it would have been on the nose so Corfu was put off again for another 2 days. We are hoping to set off again tomorrow weather permitting, crossing Otranto Channel to one of the islands off Corfu.
I will update the Sailing Blog with an overview of the rest of our stay at Crotone and our crossing to Santa Maria di Leuca, glad to be on the move again if it was only for one day.
