The 'Flashback Episode'

17 August 2006 | Cary, NC
Doug Mayle
Due to visits from friends and family, we have not been to see Ashiya in a few weeks. In addition, a little work/vacation in Switzerland will keep us from the coast for a few more weeks. Although these opportunities to visit with loved ones and travel abroad are fantastic, they leave little to be written on the sailing front. (Although, don't believe for a moment that our minds are not constantly thinking about it).

In the interim, I thought I might make some suggestions of past entries which you may want to revisit (or for newer readers, experience for the first time). Like a popular TV sitcom running a 'Flashback Episode,' let the following blogs remind you of how we got here...

35.92N 78.94W How it all started (Jan-2005)

17.93N 87.96W Friends show us the joy of cruising (May-2005)

35.09N 76.63W I can't believe we bought a boat! (Aug-2005)

35.08N 76.56W Repairs are finally done, let's go sailing (Oct-2005)

12.95N 61.26W Learning to sail in the Caribbean (Nov-2005)

35.11N 75.99W Brave enough to sail to Ocracoke (Nov-2005)

34.18N 77.82W Lucky enough to sail Offshore from Wrightsville Beach to Cape Lookout (Jul-2006)

I hope, Dear Reader, that these past waypoints will keep you sated until such time as we can live and write some new content. Until then.

About:
We are Doug & Sheryl, owners and crew of the sailing vessel Prudence.

This blog starts in 2005, when we initially had the idea to quit our jobs and live on a sailboat while we cruised to the Caribbean. At that time we had never owned a boat and had no experience sailing. [...]
