Sometimes it is easy to spend several days on the boat without even noticing the passage of time. I woke this morning to the realization that I had not left the boat since Sunday. Daily movement around the boat is minimal, at best, so I decided to get off the boat and go walking.
With no real destination in mind, Sheryl and I walked through two neighborhoods we had yet to explore. One is on the west side of the airport and the other is on the east side. Anytime you get away from the water, here on Culebra, you head up. Granted, the hills are nothing compared to what I anticipate we will find further down island, but they are enough to get your heart rate up pretty quickly.
By the time the afternoon was over, we had tackled two major hills and two minor ones. We had covered a distance of about 4 miles, and downed about a gallon of water. A brief visit to sea glass beach and a stop at the grocery store rounded out our day. Sometimes, life here is just about getting the requisite exercise, taking in the view, and making sure the pantry is sufficiently stocked.
