Anyone who has read this blog at any time over the past 7 months knows that our favorite pastimes include kayaking and snorkeling. That enjoyment is only heightened when we have an opportunity to share those activities with others.
We invited our friends Pam & Chuck for lunch aboard
Prudence and they suggested some morning kayaking and snorkeling to help build up our appetites.
As you can see in the photo above, Pam & Chuck have
real kayaks. It was certainly evident that they had a much easier time cutting through the choppy water going to windward on our paddle over to Baha Mosquito. Sheryl lagged behind on purpose to capture photos, but I did my best to keep pace with Chuck. Even though inflatable kayaks are comfortable and practical for our purposes, they are not the most efficient means of personal-powered water transportation.
We arrived at Mosquito Bay and beached the kayaks. We snorkeled out toward Punta Vaca, and although it is not the most stellar snorkeling spot around the island, Sheryl got some really great photos.

Beaugregory Juvenile:
Feather Duster Worm:
And, although I know that I have recommended this time and time again, the links in the upper left corner contain more of Sheryl's wonderful photos. Check the top photo link often to be sure that you are not missing anything. Note that the images above and more from yesterday's outing are on page 3 of the most recent Flikr photo collection.
We returned to the boat and had a well-deserved lunch. It was nice to spend the afternoon getting to know Pam & Chuck a little better while the fresh tradewinds kept us cool in the cockpit. And, our friends were kind enough not to register a single complaint about having to drink room-temperature soda. Spending time with people in the relaxed environs of the islands is, most certainly, one of the best aspects of this lifestyle.
