After a 136 hour sail we reached Greenland at midday on Monday. Spectacular is an understatement. As the sun rose and the fog lifted we could see snowcapped mountains and a glacier that seemed to drop straight into the ocean. As we neared the coastline the ocean appeared to be littered with icebergs ranging in size from monstrous to enormous. Many of them looked like elaborate ice sculptures so that it was like sailing through a nautical art gallery. We have anchored in a sheltered harbour and the sun is shining but we are plagued by mosquitoes and none of us brought any repellent so we are stuck inside the boat. Rain is forecast tomorrow as we sail south. This is a very remote area with no habitation for 200 miles and Greenland is everything we hoped for and more. A fabulous adventure.
