Cause for Celebration

22 August 2012
Tom Maxfield
At 0630 on Tuesday morning we broke open the champagne to celebrate 1000 miles to our destination. Of course there wasn't any champagne as we are a dry boat but we mentally quaffed it and felt much better. Anders got out his horn and gave it a bit of a blast. No danger of disturbing any neighbours in the middle of the North Atlantic.

We encountered some bad weather for 24 hours and got a bit wet but today, Wednesday, the sun has come out although it does seem to trade places with the fog. Sadly, the wind has deserted us so we have the engine running and TillerPete is in charge. We are currently some 50 miles north of London, albeit a long, long way to the west.

All being well, we should be level with Paris on Friday. Anders spotted a whale close by last night and today we spotted dolphins. They are more successful at fishing than Nigel as we saw scores of seagulls tracking them and swooping for the leftovers.
