Athanor Expedition

Our exploration of land and sea

Enroute to San Diego

This morning as we left Newport Beach we were treated to watching two dozen dolphins as they jumped, danced and played. We gave up trying to capture it on film - sometimes you just have to put down the camera and take in the wonder of it all.

We have virtually no wind today so we are forced to motor down the coast. The sky is blue, the seas are calm, and we're close enough to shore to have internet access (which seems a bit odd as I look out to a vast sea).

One of the advantages of a calm sea and internet is that I am finally working on setting up our blog - this being the first official post. We hope to arrive at Shelter Island Marina, San Diego by early evening. That will be our home for December as we make final preparations to leave the US for the next year, as well as travel to Seattle, Boulder (for Carah's graduation from CU Boulder, and to the Bay Area for holidays!

More to come.
