Cruising the Bay of Islands

We've spent the past 7 days in the beautiful Bay of Islands region, at a number of different anchorages all within an easy sail of the main towns of Paihia and Russell. Ian, Lucy and Brett joined us for four days - we've been fishing for snapper, walking and practising our SUP skills in the sun and sampling Ian and Lucy's leftover wine from Christmas! Compared to Brisbane the days here seems particularly long, with the sun going down around 9pm and surprisingly hot too. Tomorrow we'll pick up our newly repaired trampoline from a local sailmaker and then begin the journey south towards Great Barrier Island.
