Veteran's Day 2013 - Monday - Barefoot Landing (Myrtle Beach to Osprey Marina)

This day was all sorts of "disjointed"...
It started like most other mornings... coffee/ check emails/ breakfast / etc.
Then...a knock on the hull...
TOM (from s/v Dalmation) was outside, on the dock with this look of panic on his face...
OH OH.... what's going on... ????

We had arranged to leave about 0830 hours... it was then 0800..
The Panic look, on Tom's face, was because the depth sounder on Dalmation when turned on... read 7.2 feet and falling... (They draft 7 feet!!!)

The depth sounder on AB read 6.4 feet... YEP could be tense...

So I jumped off and we tried to get Dalmation off the dock first...
We tried backing against a forward spring; we tried forward; no movement...
We tried using the anchor windlass to inch the boat forward... Nothing..
hard aground...
The we tried putting the motor on OUR dinghy and using the dinghy to pull a kedge line (attached to the top of the Dalmation Mast), to heel the boat over... so that it would draw less water..
Nothing.
No movement forward or backward or sideward. :(

SO we wait...
The girls (Susan and Marylou) went shopping at the outlets...
I worked on our new bridle hook for the AB anchor... (don't now what Tom did).

In only an hour the Dalmation was floating, so we put a quick call into the girls, and started disconnecting both boats from electric, etc.

IN 15 minutes we were off the docks at Barefoot Landing, and on our way to the Osprey Marina.

Tonight had a great dinner at an Italian Restaurant in town...
There's weather coming in on us... tomorrow.... We will probably stay here at least two nights... and let this cold front, and blustery period pass by...

We'd love to go outside from Winyah Bay to Charleston... and avoid McClellanville, and all the shallow, shoaled ares that are north of Charleston on the ICW.
So.. good weather will be critical.
