Last morning in GTC - Leaving on Tide

Sunday – Last morning at GTC – Moving to Manjack Cay on the Tide
Wow… this has been a wild end of WEEK… most of the pics have been posted to the various web sites, but with very little explanation. Let’s see if I can remember some of what transpired… WED = Tour Lowe’s Historical Museum… (I only posted one pic from that event… although I took plenty of the items, and history).
Thursday, I think was “project morning followed by Bocci ball at the baseball fields”… and that was followed by a trip to the Leeward Yacht club for Happy Hour, and then dinghy across the Sound to Pinapples (only to find out they were closing early – event). SO as cruisers…we ADAPT!!! We gathered at SEEKER for lobster ravioli’s, cheese and crackers, etc. Adapt and conquer.
Friday night was the “Cruisers night at the NEW Plymouth Café, and BAR”… This is where you buy a bottle of wine, or anything, and the wait-staff will keep you “topped up” for the entire evening, or until it’s gone, or you’re gone. We all had quite the buzz on, after cruisers night, so we walked over to Pinapples (on the way to our dinghies)….
Kevin (of the world famous band THE GULLEY ROOSTERS) was playing; So we stayed for food and dancing. Great fun!!!
Saturday, DAY we sought out Tomatoes at the local hydroponic garden place, behind or rather adjacent to the Leeward Yacht club. But……….. one woman came early and picked them ALL…. Kathy (in her quiet southern way) happened to utter “Bitch” when the woman walked by, and gloated that “she got them all”…. ;)
So we settled for ‘greens’ (which made a great dinner salad later)… but we convinced the other sailing crews that we met there at the garden to walk over to the Leeward Yacht Club, and see if we could cajole them into opening early for “GOOMBAY smashes”…(rum drink with a pure rum ‘floater’ on top).
We succeeded (sort of)… We were there most of the morning, and well into the afternoon. NICE TIME…
It may have been the last time we see these folks for a while, as we’re moving out of GREEN Turtle CAY today on the Tide… and moving to Manjack (or NunJack) cay this afternoon. WELL… as it turns out, many of them have the same agenda…;) COOL !!
So, This morning I measured the fuel, in preparation for the 5 mile motor –sail to Manjack… It was going to be strictly SAIL, after we left Black Sound, but the trade winds have all but disappeared this AM (flat calm). COULD be strictly MOTOR!! ;(
We met some nice folks from Alaska (Tim, and Jill)… They’re visiting our friends on “Nightengale” (Grant, and Libby). This life style was very different from their Fairbanks life.
SO… I’d better get busy… The tide is now on the rise…. The Shallowest part of the exit from here is two sand/rock bars about 4+ feet deep at mean low water (tide). So we’ll drop the mooring lines a little after NOON, to catch the mid to rising tide OUT.
