Tuesday, 13 NOV 2018 - Carolina Beach NC
The night of the 12th of NOVember we had quite the storm here... But the opportunity could not be passed up... I got out on the side deck in the pouring rain... and put my "dam" around the water intake on the port side deck... for the collection of rain water... (the first flush had cleaned the deck of particulate matter from anchor cleaning, and salt)... I watched the water swirl into the deck fitting for a while... then decided just to leave it...for the night.... By morning we were FULL of water... all tanks.
NICE...
The one thing that did occur during the night... One of the cargo nets in the main salon that hold food stuffs, came down.. spilling the contents all over the floor... I rehung the net with new ends... they had just chaffed through with the motion of the boat...
The BIG Surprise yesterday... was the message from the Brown's (Janet and Bill), (our cruising friends that live near Southport NC) from St. James ... they were on the CAR FERRY, and coming to see us... How phenomenal !!! We took long hot showers (with newly garnered water); gathered up the "stuff" that had to go to shore (garbage); and split for shore... (We had already taken launched the dinghy from the foredeck.. )
OH.... We did get to meet Lynn, and Larry from the P/V Sequel (friends of Laura, and Bill s/v Second Wind)... They came over in the morning.. to say "HI"... and meet face to face... (we met them again on shore for a tiny bit).
Janet and Bill showed up at the dinghy dock... (901 Canal St), and we went immediately to lunch... at a local restaurant.. ( GREAT BURGERS !!! )... Then we took a beach and boardwalk WALK...; followed by a drive to FORT FISHER (where we watched the 10 min. movie, and toured the museum.. VERY INTERESTING... (CIVIL WAR)...
They wanted to make the 1730 hour return FERRY so... we consumed the remainder of the afternoon, at a local second story BAR, overlooking the shore.... (PIC)
GREAT DAY here at Carolina Beach..... OH... and the mooring field is great too... there's still ONE mooring ball left unoccupied today... (for the storm)...
Today is supposed to nasty weather... Tomorrow we'll move down to Southport... Hopefully to stage for some days off-shore.
