WED. 28 NOV 2018 -- North RIVER… Waiting for Haulout
This morning is a Chilly one… Freeze warnings INLAND… not too bad while floating in tidal waters… but still quite BRISK…………….. Propane heater dug out again….I had already stored it deep in the tubs, in the storage locker on AB…. MISTAKE!!
I don’t really know the temperature outside…. Don’t know IF I really WANT to know… but the weather station on TV says It’ll be 50F by 10 AM…. And that’s good enough for me….
You can see your breath in the main salon while making coffee this AM….
I also looked outside, here in the North River…. We anchored yesterday afternoon in 12 feet of water… at just BEFORE high tide…. Knowing that there’s 6+ foot of tide here…. WELL……………sure enough… woke up this morning… STILL floating but with a water depth of 5.4 feet… NOT a lot of water… BUT just “enough”…. I suppose it doesn’t really matter, as long as we’re NOT STUCK in the bottom…. We can’t go to Rocky’s until just before HIGH TIDE anyway….
ONE Good thing…. Wonderful TV reception here for CBS, and ION…………. So Susan is happy….
It’s so cold, I doubt I can do the bottom work for a few days…. ‘til the weekend…. We’re considering asking Rocky if we can stay for the month…. It’s actually cheaper than VERO Beach… and a lot less hastle… with respect to hiring someone to watch the boat over Christmas, and empting the freezer and fridge…. Etc. and just the logistics….. The only hastle being the rental car(s)….. well CAR… we’d have to change only ONE arranged rental…. The one for Christmas.
WELL………….. that whole thing depends a bunch of factors… So………….we’ll play that one by ear.
Coffee’s done; propane heater working; 6kW Generator running; boat is floating (barely); sun is up; gobs of food, and spirits on board; new scenery around us (other than old St. Mary’s, GA; wind is blowing (bad and good); but in general LIFE is GOOD!
