Relaxing Morning here in the Eastern Harbor... this Sunday... Although I do have a list of "TO DO's" for later...
Breakfast is over; SSB check-in is over; Solar panels adjusted (to aim toward sun; coffee in mug... Life is GOOD !!
Yesterday I finished the project regarding the STERN CLEAT for "George", the dinghy (see PICS if loaded)... We've been securing the stern anchor at the cleat in the BOW... and the rodes run the length of "George" to the stern... So they were always in the way... of climbing in and out of the boat... SO... NOW we have a proper stern cleat...for the stern anchor ( in case you're wondering why anyone would anchor from the stern, instead of the bow... The stern anchor, placed when approaching a dock, keeps the dinghy from being swept under, OR into the docks or pilings... by an unfavorable wind, or tide)... We've seen dinghies be 'trapped' under docks (on rising tides)... NOT GOOD !!!

We met some really nice folks over the last few days... Chuck and Margi on "s/v V-TWIN".... And Debbie, and Lat on "s/v Lolleygagger". I already mentioned cocktails on "V-Twin", right before the dinghy drift, the other night. The Lat and Debbie meeting was the result of them dropping us a NOTE on our Blog site.... I dinghied down to the end of Eastern Harbor.. .and met them... During the conversation it was mentioned that they were having a tough time adjusting their packing gland on "Lollygagger"... So we talked for a while about leakage rates, and problems that might occur.... I lent them three wrenches, and told them about "anti-sieze" lubes....
They worked.. and all is well now... yeah!!!
Yesterday, was also "water day".... Although we didn't "NEED" the potable water... (as in not empty) I took the dinghy and Jerry cans, down to John at the marina... and filled them.... Water is NOW $0.45 / gallon here at MOW cay... So it becomes an economic balance as to whether or not it's cheaper to run the WATERMAKER or buy it.... (fuel vs $$). Either way, it's still $$$
BUT if you're going somewhere and have to Motor... OR have GOBS of SUN and WIND... make WATER...
Today... NO WIND.. flat calm... but plenty of SUN....
WE've been thinking about replacing our OLD Solar panels with larger, more efficient ones... Now that the Solar stik doesn't rotate... (I secured after the "overboard" issue last fall)... I can put much larger panels on the "solar stik" arms...
I'll have to check out the capacity of the solar CONTROLLER.... (see if it can handle larger currents).
