ADDED 10 LB propane cylinder for GRILLE on "Porch"

04 March 2021
Dean Perry
An added 10 pound propane cylinder has been incorporated into the AB supplies.... due to the generosity of Gary StoneKing...(diane)...

We volunteered to ferry HIM (GARY) and Diane to and from their 38 Foot Mariner 39 sailing vessel, any time they wished...to accommodate potential BUYERS...(IT'S FOR sale)....

AND Gary just gave us an extra 10 LB propane tank for our efforts.... Thanks GARY.... "LET THE GRILLING CONTINUE !!! )

TAXES for 2020 DONE !!!! WOW...

04 March 2021
Dean Perry
WELL... our TAXES are done for 2020...

But it took the better part OF the DAY..(Thursday)... GAM day... (social gathering day)...

I think We'LL miss today's gathering..., AS it's NOW going on 1600 hours... and the dinghy is still hanging from the starboard BOW...and I'm sitting here in a bathing suit.... with RUM in hand... and NO lunch in mind....(or stomach)... BUT the taxes are DONE..................... Yeah !!!

I'm so glad they're done (TAXES)... generated 1/2 inch think packet of paper documents... but worth it...

I think I will play a little music tonight... but just NOT for the crowd... (such as it might BE)... Usually it's just Susan and I and maybe another individual.... So I'll play for SUSAN.... a good audience.... ALWAYS............ !!!!!

New Mains'l STRONG TRACK installed

14 February 2021 | Vero Beach FL
Dean Perry
It took, roughly, one HOUR to install the new sail track (Strong TRACK from Tides Marine)... ALL 47 feet 7 inches....

Four 'fellow cruisers' came to assist Susan and I in the install...

As "Bear" would crank me up the mast in our bowswains chair, I would say "UP CHAIR", then I'd say "UP TRACK"... and the two gentlemen and Susan would PUSH the track UP toward me... and I would "guide" the CMPE Track onto every one of 140 SS clips....all the way up the Main Halyard sheave, at the top of the mast.

"EASY peasy"

Monday - Propane - pay BILLS -- RAIN

08 February 2021 | VB
Dean Perry | sporatic Rain today
Very sleepy morning... ONE to sleep IN (late)... super quiet... Until the Morning Radio Net woke me...
Today was "propane day" (i.e. FILL Port side 20 pounder)... We get exactly 75 days out of ONE twenty pound tank.... and about 3 days before it runs out.... we start to smell tiny amounts of gas... (I guess the pressure isn't sufficient at that point to hold stove valves closed)....
Anyway... it's been that way since we've owned Autumn Borne...

Yesterday was "catch rainwater" day...during the storms.... NICE!!

When lightening struck withing 5 miles and the storms were approaching we took the Navigation stuff below and put them into a Faraday CAGE...(otherwise known as a microwave oven)....

On saturday AM...I waxed the entire starboard side of the vessel.... and polished the SS while I was at IT.... But when sitting on the side of the dinghy with my feet in the water, and slightly UNDER the waterline of the AB... I could FEEL the SLIME, and growth with the tops of my feet.... YUCK.... SO I guess it's time to get out the wet suit, and get in the water with a scraper.... clean the bottom, and definitely the Propeller.
Best guess at water temp; about 68F

Covid Vaccines -- for BOaters in FLorida ?

03 February 2021
Dean Perry
WELL... the state of Florida is not a really welcoming place for cruisers.... as the residency requirements for COVID shots, are fairly restrictive.... even IF you're in the 1B catagory...

I think I'll call the TV news station and ask the question.... "what are we to do... ? We pay rent; we buy food, and parts, and make use of all restaurants (that are OPEN).... "

I (dean) might get a vaccine from the Veterans Admin... (Viet Nam VET).... BUT that leaves Susan out...

VERY Frustrating !!!

Friday -- Lazy DAY here at VERO... windy

29 January 2021
Dean Perry | sunny but Very WINDY
--

Fair winds, Dean and Susan S/V Autumn Borne www.sailblogs.com/member/autumnborne/Good Morning….  It’sFriday…. STILL pretty windy here in VERO Beach FL…. Nothing compared toyesterday…. I cancelled my trip up the 60 foot mast…(6 stories IF youhave to have a ground based reference)… to put the new “strong track” for themainsail on the mast. SO… Instead of outside work….we defrosted the freezer (theone below the refrigerator, NOT the Engle)… There was a good ½ Inch of ice on the evaporator of the freezer…(probably the result of opening the unit a lot to get ICE cubes)….  (BTW… there are a lot of cruisers who NEVERhave Ice cubes... So that’s a real pleasure for us)… Anyway… to defrost the freezer, I decided to get a bag ofice cubes for the COOLER (into which we put the freezer food while defrosting)…  SO…………….. As long as I had to go to shore forICE… I thought I’d add the three jerry cans of potable water to the AB tanks…andrefill them, WHILE inshore… Water added…trip started… WOW… WIND Blowing about 30 + knows…  white caps inside the harbor here… It was a wild trip…. But made it back with BLOCK of ice… (supposed to be cubes, but solid)… Defrosting went quickly, and the freezer was back in operation in about 1.5 hours…  then throughout the afternoon… I eased the set POINTs down… to their normal range...(being easy on the equipment). Today…. Is a “lazy day”… watching the White HOUSE press briefing….   (which I’m impressed with…. And the actual presidential actions of the WH in the first week in office)…  I think we’ll use a little of the Afternoon… to vacuum seal some of the meats we bought on Wednesday… and put in the freezer….   I’ve been learning some new music, as well… some from John Prine… Some OLDIES…(things that everyone “knows” and can sing at GAM’s).  Another goal is to spend more time with the dobro…   and slide…. SO…………………… On with the DAY…     OH Yes… have to order something from Mantus, and Amazon… Mike and Donna sent us some MAIL….    THIS whole thing to “prove residency” for any upcoming vaccine shots…. The locals are complaining that OUT OF staters are coming to steal their precious “bodily fluids” (aka vaccines).
