We have been planning this trip for quite some time. I'm not sure when the idea came into being but we have been nursing it along for awhile. The original plan was for a year long sailing adventure. In the beginning of the plan, we were not yet married, nor did we live together. We each had our own homes and were going to capitalize on the sale of our respective homes to fund our adventure. Moe's house sold first and after a long time on the market, so did mine. Sadly, the market was not cooperative and we didn't come out quite as rich as anticipated and realized we may not be able to see our dream to fruition. But we did get married!
As we all know, life throws us curve balls and opportunities and if we're paying attention we can take advantage of those times. Usually Moe works summers and I pine away waiting for him to come back on weekends so we can sail and have some good times together. Usually I maintained my long term job. Due to a twist in circumstances, that came to an end in 2012 and I started a new job, only to find myself unemployed after a few months. In early 2013 I was able to obtain a part time job and Moe got local work instead of out of town work. When I learned that my part time job was to come to an end in June we thought - now is the time, let's make this happen! We have a month to get everything prepared and ready to do our Around Vancouver Island sail cruise, a slightly shortened version of the original plan.
