Intrepid Friends as crew

"Yes we would love to come down for a sail and see the boat!' Dave and Cathy turned up bright and breezy ready for the off on Saturday 3rd and after the safety briefing, while the galley slave disappeared to use the shore facilities, we all set off for a day at sea..to include lunch of course!
The new crew members were efficient to say the least in removing all the fenders and storing them at the stern with knots unknown to most sailors but all done in the best possible taste!
We settled down for a brisk sail out to open waters maybe as far as the Eddystone or "round the corner" to Whitsand Bay to look at our son's wedding venue from the sea; however as it was brisker than anticipated and the galley slave looked a bit green so after a couple of hours we decided to make a trip up the Hamoze and into the Tamar passing the Torpoint Ferries and the Naval Base and under the Bridges spanning Devon and Cornwall. We listened to the radio telling us about an accident up the Lynher but were unable to reach the position given before the police and RNLI boats speeding to the rescue site.
We had lunch on the return trip down the Tamar as no space could be found on the small pontoon at Saltash. By now the crew along with the galley slave were feeling much better and we sailed back into the sound and back to a new berth on the 'dead end' side of 'P' pontoon with the much needed help of our two intrepid crew members, learning to tie the fenders back in place along the port side of the boat.
Over a much need hot drink we made plans for more sailing days but hopefully in warmer climes in the coming months, and then after showers we made for The Bridge and a meal to round of the visit.
We have photographic evidence of the day but not yet uploaded to the computer ....but keep watching and all will be revealed.
