Finally, the wind has picjked up to 16-18 kts ESE, which is practically dead astern. We have the symmetric spinnaker up, tacked and sheeted tight at both corners, no mainsail and we are rolling down the rhumbline course at 7-8 kts. It's a little rock-n-rolly with a 2 m mixed swell, but the boat is running well and the autopilot seems to like the sail balance. Today I hooked another monster big fish, but he got away with my lure and half my line. It's too hard to fight a big fish running down a steep swell at 7 kts with the kite up, so I gave up fishing until it gets smoother. We also had some kind of bird take shelter in the lee of our deckhouse all day. I think he banged himself up on the rigging trying to land. Wendy made me open a can of tuna for him, but of course he wasn't interested. Otherwise, all is well aboard Bangorang. Because of our slow start this is looking like it might be a 10 day passage, but we are managing it well.
