We left Apia today at first light bound for Neiafu, Tonga about 330 miles away. This passage is almost due south and can be challenging with the reinforced SE trades before the beam. After watching the weather for awhile we decided there were no ideal weather windows, so we jumped on a forecast for 2 days of light E to ESE winds. We are currently motorsailing on a good course and speed, but there is a large ocean swell coming up from the SE that promises a bumpy ride... At this point we have cleared the Apolima Straight and are in the open ocean with a straight shot for Tonga. Hoping to arrive by late Monday (it's Saturday here). If it get's too snotty, we'll crack off and sail for Fiji. But for now, allis well aboard Bangorang.
