Yesterday we made landfall on Vavau, Tonga after 54 hrs and 355 miles from Apia, Samoa. Overall, a good, fast passage, albeit a little rough at the end. The last 50 miles we saw 25-30 kts wind with big 3-4 meter seas. One particularly large wave dumped 20 gallons of water on TOP of the bimini...At one point in the passage a bail broke holding the mainsheet block to the boom. Fortunately I had a Dyneema strop made up already, so the repair was straightforward. Nevertheless, we arrived safely and got through our check-in uneventfully. Today we go ashore and begin exploring Neiafu!
