The SE winds were brisk at 20-25 kts all afternoon yesterday and we sailed reefed on a close reach at about 7-8 kts through a rough sea. Wet and bouncy with many waves over the boat. Every so often a large foot-long flying fish would hit the boat with athump and i'd hafta search for the source of the noise. Occasionally, they'd make it into the cockpit and one even flew right through the companionway and hit the galley stove... The winds died off and the seas settled in the course of the night and by morning we were motorsailing in less than 10 kts of wind. Today, in contrast has been glorious! About 1000 the wind filled to12-14 kts from the SSE, the seas settled to a 1.5 m long-period swelland the sun came out. We have been sailing on a close reach all day at 6-8 kts. We hope to arrive at Anatom Island tomorrow morning. All is well aboard Bangorang!
