Calm seas

Its mid-day on our second day out from New Caledonia. We have sunny skies, calm seas and light wind. A very comfortable ride, but we have been spending a fair amount of time motor sailing. We still aren't quite into our "passage rhythm" yet, but all is well and things are running smoothly. We are heading just west of due south trying to get a little easting in when possible. The big wind shft we hope to ride into NZ is still a few days away.
Besides watching the weather, The biggest challenge so far is how to use what's left of the fresh and frozen food for the tastiest meals, thus saving the food that won't be confiscated for later use. New Zealand has a strict Bio Security code and will take all fresh foods, meats, seeds, etc They will even take ALL POPCORN!! So I am getting creative with some of my snacks. I actually made a smoothie today with frozen bananas, spinach, peanut butter, milk and chocolate. It was OK, but I will look for another way to use the rest of the frozen spinach. Colin is NOT a spinach fan, so it is up to me to use it or lose it Same can be said for the brussel sporouts and I am NOT going to attempt a smoothie with those!!!
There is also plenty of time to catch up on our reading, simple to do list items, and the ever important omphalskepsis.Colin has the fishing lines out hoping for another Mahi Mahi (I don't THINK that will be confiscated!?!) but no luck so far. That last one he caught gave us 10 meals! I of course would love a yellow fin tuna, but that might be asking a bit too much. We would probably have to take turns reeling it in, and hope a shark doesn't beat us to the knockout.
Oh the woes of the cruising life..... more later.
