We have arrived in Tahiti! It took 19 days at sea to cover the 2600 miles between New Zealand and Tahiti by our route through the southern ocean. We have experienced a variety of weather, but to be fair, nothing unmanageable and except for one day of light winds, everything else blew from abaft the beam, which was really great for this trip. We had a couple of equipment breakages. Early in the voyage our topping lift failed damaging the sheave box in the boom end. We managed to patch that with baling wire and a couple of dyneema strops. Then just last night as we were reefing down for a squall, half my mainsail slides pulled right out of my Tide's Strong Track. We had to douse the main and motorsail the final 120 miles into Tahiti. I'll go up the mast tomorrow to assess the damage. Hopefully an easy fix, otherwise, could be stuck here awhile waiting for parts. Anyway, all is well aboard Bangorang!
