If you were hiking about the island of Carriacou, and noticed this, off on the hillside, now, what would YOU think? How curious would you be?
****
Following some more boat chores that were completed with successful zest, we opted to get together with a few of our cruising friends and head out for a hike.
Just looking for somewhere to meander, somewhere to explore, we were curious about finding the way to the top, and tip, of the hill you see in the photo, hoping we would, once there, get some good views of Tyrell Bay.
Following the main road,
and getting to the roundabout was the easy part.
We knew that going right would take us to Paradise Beach and eventually Hillsborough, going straight would lead us to a shortcut to the Beaches, and going left, well that was the way to explore.
A slight uphill and the first thing we smelled was the heavenly scent of baking bread from Henrietta's Bakery,
with its two protective custodians protecting the premises. But we bravely kept on going, noticing the growth had completely taken over some forgotten rusted relics,
and the continued uphill trek led us to views such as this,
and houses perched quite precariously on a hill, such as this,
The road changed to a barely a path, and we laughed when we came across this sign,
which, if you followed the string of line, went all the way up to this,
Old fashioned technology at its best.
Wasn't much of a need of ringing any bells as the dogs had raised their barking to a chaotic frenzy as we passed making sure that no one could possibly pass by unnoticed.
When the path stopped, we continued on through some pretty tall grasses,
hoping to reach the tip of land, but alas, the brush got thicker and we got nowhere,
and at the pile of bones we found, we decided it was time to turn around and go back from where we came.
Along the way, some close-ups of the roadside foliage,
or perhaps,
I was just playing with my camera,
Either way, it was fun to venture forth and keep on exploring,
noticing some of these candy apples that we could have grabbed for a delicious snack, if only we could get past this big beast.
On another road we kept on going
and eventually saw this,
up on the hill.
The very steep uphill lead to a construction site,
to a house in progress,
nestled and almost hidden on the hillside,
and finally, the perfect door. How insanely awesome is the construction on this?
We wandered around and wondered what each room might eventually hold,
as decorations on the walls, windows and doors?
The roof held views such as this,
and back rests, such as this,
and way down below, we could see a different type of home on (or would that be "in") the water.
We continued on, noticing a sign nailed to a tree
and once again, curiosity got the best of us. Seclusion Suites?? Let's go see,
the rest of the gang opting to "wait for us" as it was obviously a "dead end" they said.
Down the path, the suites were waiting,
in perfect secluded, sea-view type of atmosphere. The rest of the gang had joined us by this time, and the owner, just as curious about us as we were about her, came out to chat with us, and this is where we learned a bit more of The Hobbit House we had just passed.
We didn't see any hobbits, but we saw a whole different part of the countryside, all of it beautiful. See where Curiosity can lead you?
