A Green Thumb I do not have.
****
We have two plants on board.
One
was a beautiful Basil, and it seems to have shrunk and shrivelled and is now a dull almost yellow looking thing. And the other
was a mint. That in a windstorm got sideswept and overturned. Today it's millimetre by tiny leaf inching its way back to life.
They are getting a (
cough cough) daily dose of water (although I have to admit I sometimes forget). And staring at yet another shrivelled yellow leaf that slowly drifts its way onto the cockpit floor, I have determined that A Green Thumb I do not have.
"Does that mean we can get rid of them?" asked the Capt'N quite a little too eagerly?
"Not yet!" I said as I brought them into safety down below and placed them into the sink out of winds way.
Speaking of Thumbs, I woke up this morning and noticed, with awesome joy and great relief, that finally, after Day 8, my Margarita Madness seems to be on the Healing Mend.
The dermatitis has finally stopped spreading. The fingers on both hands have shrunk back into seemingly normal size and are a little more bendable. The large blisters on my thumbs and wrists have FINALLY collapsed unto themselves and I inspect and gratefully notice that there's no sign of any broken skin. The painful and itchy feeling of a sting of a thousand needles is
almost gone and my skin although discoloured, is starting to look a bit more normal.
I breathe a huge collective sigh of relief.
While I've been keeping my hands out of trouble's way for the past few days, the Capt'N has been keeping extra busy with BoatChores too numerous to list and too boring to mention. But one sure sign that we're getting to the bottom of the list is that our dinghy is now off our Bow and on the Marina Dock, waiting for its own share of TLC.
While all that outside work was going on, I did manage to do my own set of chores that don't require too much use of the hands, like for example, the deep clean of our Camelbak's,
with extra attention to the bladders.
Life is returning to Ship-Shape conditions.
As I sip my morning coffee, my gaze turns towards the plants sitting in my sink. I make myself a promise to be more vigilant in the daily watering, I feed them a few drops of plant food, gave them a mental hug and a soft caress with my almost healthy hands, and promptly announce
"I think I'll go to exercise class!!"
"Have fun" said the Capt'N.
"Thank you, you too!"
