Ria Arousa

Today we summoned up the fortitude to tear ourselves away from lovely Muros before harbour rot set in. A tough call, but somehow you know when it is time to move on. The decision was helped by the beautiful clear weather in Ria Muros during the morning.
So we said our goodbyes to Pedro at the marina, as well as to various peeps we had got to know (but who we will no doubt see again on the way south) and headed off. Well, it was a lovely clear day until the fog came rolling down, just as we were negotiating various rocky shoals off the headland. About 10 miles were done completely on instruments, on low revs and with the foghorn on loudhailer, with fishing boats looming out of the mist everywhere. The radar came into its own, especially as so few boats were using AIS. Anyway, it was good to check that all our instruments were working, and that we remembered what to do. See the track on the chart in the photo - blue plan vs red actual! As the weather gods would have it, just as we cleared the final narrow gap between two huge but invisible lighthouses, the fog lifted and there we were in brilliant sunshine in the mouth of Ria Arousa. Sails up, engine off and a lovely reach up to our anchorage for tonight off the beach by Pobra. This, our fourth Ria, looks fun with lots to offer, so we may stay for a while.
