Waiting for the wind to drop
23 June 2020 | Raroia Atoll, Tuamotus, French Polynesia
We are still sitting at anchor behind a protective motu, waiting for the wind to drop. Our maximum wind speed last night
When we move to Makemo we will get two or three days to reprovision and enjoy the atoll before the next weather system comes through and we will need to find shelter again. It looks like we will be regrouping with various of our buddy boats in the east end of Makemo. This seems to be the nature of winter in these parts.
We went snorkelling yesterday to check out some of the nearby bommies. One of them had some of the best coral we had seen this trip. It was just opposite a gap in the motus and we think that the constant inflow of fresh seawater must help keep it in good condition.
Last night's movie was âOlympus has Fallen'. Needs a bit of willing suspension of disbelief but entertaining all the same.
We are up to date on boat maintenance, laundry and bread making and Lesley has just made some lovely scones, so life is good as we wait for the wind to drop.
