Happy New Year

Wishing all our readers a happy and healthy 2021. Whilst 2020 did not turn out to be what we planned it was still an adventure; and where one door closed, another opened. We are grateful for the kindness and friendship we have met along the way. Who knows where 2021 will take us - west would be good but no worries if not. We will work it out as it unfolds.
Yesterday we enjoyed our first sail in the new look Barracuda. We left our anchorage in Tahiti and sailed over to Moorea, trying to remember all the things on the boat that have been changed or replaced and were untested. It was a windy down wind sail (up to 30 kts) so we only needed the genoa (front sail) - but it was nice to be back on the water. All OK.
We anchored up in the lovely Cook's Bay (photo) with its towering green hills and cliffs all around. It is much quieter here than on our last visit. However, we are not alone...
We have not mentioned our ant problem before. We have been seeing quite big, yellowish solitary ants wandering around the boat of an evening. We set traps but to no avail; the numbers slowly increased. Then the other night we were playing Scrabble and realised there were a lot of ants around the cardboard Scrabble box. We looked in the very base of the Scrabble box and were surprised to find a whole colony of ants living in there. So we dealt with that (sorry ants) hoping that would be the end of it. But we have started to see the odd solitary ant again so there must be another colony somewhere. It really is 'needle in a haystack' territory. We will report back.
