Day 3 to NZ
06 October 2021 | 250 miles SW of Fiji
Another day and a night at sea puts us on Day 3. We have made good steady progress - almost too much. We are still challenged to slow down enough. At time of writing we are under bare poles running dead down wind. The wind has been up to 30 kts but has now settled back to the forecast 15 kts. Winds have borne limited resemblance to forecast so far. It is starting to cool down as we head south. A T shirt is now not quite enough for standing watch at night.
We have a professional weather router giving us directions to guide us in through the weather systems north of New Zealand. It is the first time we have used such a service. It's sort of point and shoot. He provides aim points and we shoot. Then he gives us new aim points. He will have us burn off some time mid ocean soon so he may route us back and forward a bit.
We are sleeping better and more into the rhythm of the passage. Today we are binge watching âAshes to Ashes' whilst the rain pelts down up top.
