Break Time

25 May 2008 | Gig Harbor, WASHINGTON
Rick
Chena and I lived onboard JUNESSA for a week, working from sun-up to sun-down... As you can see by the photo, we were pretty much worn out! (she a great spooner!)

I was able to get all the mast lights and wind instruments working again. Pulled out the water tanks for a flush. Emptied out the aft locker of JUNK! I think my waterline moved up and inch!!!

I also arranged for a rigger to completely re-rig all the standing rigging and got a quote for new canvas (very expensive!!!)

I'm trying to find Peter's phone number to help me finish up the wiring projects. Peter, if you read this please send me an email with your phone number.

The newest plan is: Once I get back to Gig Harbor next week, I'll shift into high gear to get ready for a July 1st departure. I still have my course set for NORTH to Alaska! My goal is to reach PETERSBURG... anything North of that is just a bonus! Then I'll do a 180 degree turn SOUTH for Mexico and beyond.

The TO-Do-List that must get done is: Install radar, VHF, GPS, bowsprit roller, and re-connect the water hoses, batteries, and a dozen other things that must get done. ugh!

I also have to order my SPOT GPS tracker, SAT Phone, 407 EPIRP andddddd a video camera. More $$$$$! ouch!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Cheers!

Here's a few shots of prepping the boat for the long ride NORTH to Gig Harbor, Wa. It took about 5 hours to prep and load her up.

Here's a few shots of my 1985 28 foot Bristol Channel Cutter (BCC) built in Vancouver, BC. She's a full keel fiberglass hull with teak and mahogany wood throughout. She's powered by a Volvo 28hp diesel.

I had a great day learning how to sail my BCC. The learning curve was a little steeper than I had anticipated. The day ended pretty crappy... I couldn't get the engine out of gear and I plowed into the back side of a large powerboat in the slip next to me. OUCH!

This was the first day on board Junessa. I looked in every corner on board and climbed to the top of the mast! I had Chinese food and Corona Beer then feel asleep to some beautiful candle light and music.
