I HAVVVVE WATERRRRRRR!

16 September 2008 | Gig Harbor, WA
well, sort of......
It took me alllllll morning with pencil and paper, two trips to the store and two food breaks to get the SYSTEM ready for assembly.

I was able to get a work-in-progress water-system up and running tonight!!! I'm about 90 percent complete!!! It was really fun trying to get a gallon jug under the sink as a test for pumping water! I think I spilt more than the pump sucked.... I will have to stop the various leaks, mount the two 26 gallon Stainless-steel tanks, and run the hoses up to the pump to finish the job. It sounds like alot of work, but I'm thinking by LUNCH time tomorrow, ONE MORE SYSTEM CROSSED OFF THE LIST! Yeah!!!! Then again, I might have to go see the chiropractor with all the YOGA and PILATES moves to get that system installed... OUCH!

I received a couple comments on my blog site and I'd like to address a couple now:

My Nikon D200 digital SLR is AWESOME! I've gone thru the Pentax MEsuper as a teen, then Minolta film and Canon D30 and D60 digital SLR with Pro lenses. I'm a gadget junkie so I had to trade up to the Canon 10D but hated it... I sold it a month later. I then traded ALL of my Canon gear in for the NIKON D200 with pro lenses. I fell in lust with it right out of the box! The only BIG thing I don't like about the camera is the menu system... THERE ARE SOOOO MANY OPTIONS, that you can get lost. I haven't found a great manual for it yet so I play with it when I really get board. But with that said, you can put it on full auto or manual and get awesome results! I can't wait for the next upgrade.... :)

My Fatty Knees dingy came with JUNESSA... I think it's a 7 footer, but I'll have to get out the tape measure tomorrow and check. It has two sets of oars (wood and aluminum) and sailing rig. (if you go back in my blogs 6/17/08 you can see the INTERESTING sail that came with the boat, Green Peace eat your heart out!!!) I'm thinking real hard about selling the dingy and getting a bigger rubber boat. I want the option of diving and hauling a couple people or a large dog around and the Fatty Knees is just too small for me.

Last item... Plan B.... I think it's getting time to clean out the boat of excess STUFF and head North to the San Juan Islands this week. That way, if I have any trouble along the way, I have a ton of marinas in the Seattle area to do repairs. After a week or so of trials, it might be time to head South to Mexico. dos servesas, por for vor......(can i butcher the Spanish Lingo any more than that???) By then, my office will probably be calling me to go back to work in Hawaii, Alaska or the Philippines for month or so. (It would be nice to have a paycheck for cruising funds!)

Speaking of heading South... I had to break out the little heater for the boat!!! It's getting down right chilly on the boat at night! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Here's to warm beaches and cold drinks!

Here's a few shots of prepping the boat for the long ride NORTH to Gig Harbor, Wa. It took about 5 hours to prep and load her up.

Here's a few shots of my 1985 28 foot Bristol Channel Cutter (BCC) built in Vancouver, BC. She's a full keel fiberglass hull with teak and mahogany wood throughout. She's powered by a Volvo 28hp diesel.

I had a great day learning how to sail my BCC. The learning curve was a little steeper than I had anticipated. The day ended pretty crappy... I couldn't get the engine out of gear and I plowed into the back side of a large powerboat in the slip next to me. OUCH!

This was the first day on board Junessa. I looked in every corner on board and climbed to the top of the mast! I had Chinese food and Corona Beer then feel asleep to some beautiful candle light and music.
