JUNESSA IS WAITING PATIENTLY...

This has been a chess game with the tides, winds and my endurance! So far it's been 95% motoring with sail power as a added increase in speed. I just don't have the time to SAIL this trip, so my trusty Volvo 2003 three cylinder diesel engine has been pushing me along without any problems!!!

I'm getting the hang of all this SAILING stuff as well! Like when you rig the sails for the winds, go back to the cockpit and the winds have changed!!! So, back out to reef or not to reef the mailsail or furl in one or both headsails.... Make the changes, sit back and see that it's changed AGAIN! My hands look like they've been doing the ROCKY BALBOA workout (punching beef!) The fun part is when I finally get IN THE GROVE and it lasts for more than 10 minutes and I get to watch as my speed jumps right up and the boat sings! wow! so cool!

I even got use the down-wind-pole a few times (maybe two hours at the most)

I'm trying to play catch up on this blog, but it won't let me post on the way and then upload when I get online someplace... So, I'm just grabbing pictures and adding a few text for now.

THE BOAT

Here's a few shots of my 1985 28 foot Bristol Channel Cutter (BCC) built in Vancouver, BC. She's a full keel fiberglass hull with teak and mahogany wood throughout. She's powered by a Volvo 28hp diesel.

First Day Out

I had a great day learning how to sail my BCC. The learning curve was a little steeper than I had anticipated. The day ended pretty crappy... I couldn't get the engine out of gear and I plowed into the back side of a large powerboat in the slip next to me. OUCH!

New Owner

This was the first day on board Junessa. I looked in every corner on board and climbed to the top of the mast! I had Chinese food and Corona Beer then feel asleep to some beautiful candle light and music.
