RUNNING THE RAPIDS!

This shot shows the rapids making it's own weather.......
My timing was off, as usual, so I arrived at the Green Point Rapids to late for slack water.... I waited as long as I could and decided to make it another adventure on this trip! The current was running almost 9 knots and it was getting late... so, I preped the boat for some rough waters, put on my harness and strapped the video camera to the bow!
I pointed the boat towards the "quietest" spot and away we went! Heee Haaaa! JUNESSA picked up speed pretty fast once I was at the narrowest spot! I kept her in gear so I could still maneuver around if I had to.
I just missed one SUPER-LARGE-WHIRLPOOL!!! I did NOT want to get stuck in that thing which must have been 50 yards across and about 4-5 feet deep at its center! Just imagine your bathtub draining but on a HUGE SCALE! I had to gun the motor to avoid running into two other smaller whirlpools.... It sure was EXCITING!! :)
As long as I had alot of water under the keel and plenty of maneuvering room, I felt I could run this thing safely. When it was all said and done, not that big a deal.... but, if I had run into one of those whirlpools.... I would probably have a different opinion now...!
I hope I got some great video!!!
