Hot
Still at the dock in Fort Lauderdale, we wait in the sweltering heat and humidity of a southern Florida summer. The workmen didn’t show up today and I couldn’t get an electronics guy to return my calls. The upholsterer has our leather and says that it is stunning. That could be a good or a bad thing, I muse. I have decided to replace the ships stereo with a unit that can be zoned turning off some speakers while leaving others on. More importantly, the only radio station that the old system receives well is NPR and after one week of liberal dribble, I’m pulling my hair out and my ears are starting to bleed so I have to get Sirus satellite radio before I turn into a liberal and have to commit suicide to save my soul. Just kidding.
On a positive note, the sign guy comes tomorrow and we can become BEAR. We’ll visit West Marine and Sailor-man tomorrow and get safety equipment, new stereo and fender covers.
The former owner left me a sticky on one of the bulk heads which reads;
Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than you will by the things that you did.
So cast off your bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails and EXPLORE, DREAM, DISCOVER.
I want out of here, please get my work done!
