Annapolis and the Chester River
12 October 2016 | low low tide.. good time for a wing keel
10/12/16; We spent 10 days moored in Spa Creek Annapolis waiting for the Hurricanes to sort themselves out. Saw the town, went to the boat show, and did some boat maintenance. Mathew’s effect on Annapolis was limited to two days of brisk North winds and a night of heavy rain. Strong North winds on the Chesapeake seem to drive the water out of the bay causing lower than normal low tides. We originally caught a mooring closer to shore when we got here but moved out to deeper water because we worried that we’d be aground on a low tide. As it turned out I’m glad we did as several boats around us ended up sitting on the bottom for a while. Two tipped over and the wing keeled boat set upright with his prop showing. No one seemed concerned and a day later the tide came back up to normal and all floated off the bottom.
Yesterday we left Annapolis and went back North a few miles to the Chester River. We are currently anchored out up the Corsica River which tributaries into the Chester. We are headed up river to Chestertown which was described to us as a not to miss spot off the beaten path. Flexy dog and I took an early morning dinghy ride up the creek near our anchorage to take some pics which I will attach.
