Butterfly Bay, Hook Island
20 June 2011
Monday was again a short sail around the other side of Hook Island to Butterfly Bay and snorkelling on the reef. This is what the kids have been really looking forward to. Drina was handed her new mask and snorkel and we all set off with fins in the dinghy to see the reef. It wasn’t far from the boat where we picked up the mooring to swim over. Kids first, then Chris – oh! Wait a minute the dogs aren’t happy that we’re all leaving. It wasn’t long before Tinka was swimming out to us over the reef and Max was crying – damn dogs! I sat with them for a while and then Chris until we discovered a small beach further along the bay so thought we’d try over there and tie the dogs to the dinghy ashore. Kieran stayed ashore to warm up on some hot granite rocks while the rest of us had a turn snorkelling and oh what a lovely surprise – this was a much better spot – giant clams, tropical fish, coral and all so close – just beautiful, it wasn’t long before Kieran has sufficiently warmed and was back in the water. Another magic day in paradise.
