Margaret Bay, Cape Grenville:
26 July 2011
Today was a much shorter sail with only 43NM to Margaret Bay at Cape Grenville. A early start with Kieran waking at 4am loosing yet another tooth making it number six. Thankfully he returned to bed until a more decent hour of the morning. Later we started the day singing happy birthday over the water to Bruce who was next door in Illusion. With good flat water and nice breeze aft of the beam it was the perfect sailing conditions. Of particular interest was the very pleasant sail through the Home Islands off the Cape and Sunday Island where Captain Bligh sought refuge. White sandy beaches and dunes with the dark red cliffs to contrast. The vegetation is starting to become more scarse as we move further north. At night the water was alive with prawns, you could hear them jumping all through the night and they move in the light of a torch. The stars at night were awesome!! With no city lights present, the Milky Way was so bright, not bright enough for a photo though!!!
