Dampier Harbour
23 September 2011
Wednesday we decided to have a day of rest while at anchor in front of the Hampton Harbour Boating and Sailing Club after leaving Broome the previous Friday and almost 400NM as the crow flies it had been hard exhausting work with much of it beating to windward (some more than others) so an opportunity to freshen up, laundry, fresh bread then reload on fuel, water and hose the deck for the first time since Darwin was too tempting to pass. Wednesday evening our convoy studied the weather and the charts and wary that the southerly summer pattern was building decided that early Thursday was as good a day to leave as any. So after an enjoyable meal at the Sailing Club it was early to bed and ready at 2am to up anchor and head 135NM on the southerly wind for Serrurier Island and onwards another 40NM to Exmouth.
