Another Taste of Mexico
This is a photo from back in 2008, the first time Journey went cruising to Mexico. The boat was full and overflowing with guests come to wish us Bon Voyage before we set off on our travels. It is a memory we still cherish.

With one-third of the trip north completed, the good news is that we haven't really been 'bashed' much at all. Turtles everywhere!
Early in the afternoon we stopped to check out a little unamed cove. It turned out to be quite nice. We had the place all to ourselves, enjoying a lazy afternoon and a comfortable night. One drawback was the fact that the water was rather murky and didn't seem inviting for snorkeling.
Tuesday morning we moved to the anchorage on the north side of Bahia de Chamela, near the village of Perula. Our friends from Baywolf were here and we took our dinghies out to explore some of the outlying islands. Again, we were disappointed to find that some kind of algae bloom had moved into the area, and the visibility was quite poor. So we made our way to the palapas on the beach and settled for chips and salsa.
That evening we joined friends on Naida, another Passport 40, for still more munchies.
Our plan is to leave tonight for the Puerto Vallarta area. If the weather cooperates, we will make the distance in one passage. If things are kicking up a little too much around Cabo Corrientes (a cape that is notorious for turbulent, disturbed seas and strong winds and currents) we can stop at the anchorage at Punta Ipala.

Yelapa is a unique little hidden away village on the south side of Banderas Bay. No roads reach it and the only way to get there is by water.
