Another Taste of Mexico
This is a photo from back in 2008, the first time Journey went cruising to Mexico. The boat was full and overflowing with guests come to wish us Bon Voyage before we set off on our travels. It is a memory we still cherish.

Racing on Banderas Bay
Mom and Dad showed up in La Cruz, just back from their inland trip to Guadalajara. I gave Dad the choice of going racing with us or shopping in town with the ladies. No question what he preferred to do.
We started off La Cruz, were the first boat to round the weather mark about a mile away, and then bore off on a close reach to Nuevo Vallarta across the bay. We were looking golden until the spinnaker sock jammed half open (the block at the top broke) . We ended up having to drop the whole thing, pull the sock off, and rehoist it conventionally. Ten minutes lost (Ouch!). We chased the two lead boats (one was a J-160) for the next 20 miles. Kirk put Dad on the helm for the last 5 miles down to finish. Dad was quite impressed by how responsive an SC 50 is. He did a great job of steering and was grinning the whole way. I told him that was a privilege that not many of us get to have.
We finished 3rd on handicap (15 seconds out of 2nd) and everybody had a great time. It was good to be back on the race course.

Dori shot these photos of a morning surf session at Barra de Navidad. She was standing on the breakwater which adjacent to the surf break, giving great access for pictures.

Yelapa is a unique little hidden away village on the south side of Banderas Bay. No roads reach it and the only way to get there is by water.
