Upwind, going home
06 August 2012 | Shelburne, Nova Scotia
We have had a busy couple weeks. First doing a little cruising to the Magdalen Islands, then the CCA national cruise (with about 50 CCA boats) in the Bras D'Ore lakes, and then a short weather window opened up to run west right to the western end of Nova Scotia. That is usually a 200 mile bash against SW winds, so it only made sense to take it as far as possible. We arrived in Shelburne harbour (right at the southwestern end of Nova Scotia) at 2pm (yesterday) and the SW wind started up again just about an hour later and blew medium hard all night so the timing was perfect. It now looks like there may be a short weather window with northerly winds to get across to cape cod leaving tonight at about midnight. We will double check the forecasts this afternoon to make a decision.
