Just a litte further North
16 April 2013 | Sassafras River
We had a lovely 40 mile day sail. The winds were supposed to be a SE reach, but turned out to be Ely close hauled. However, the sun came out and we were able to just lay each buoy.
We are now anchored in the Sassafras River, someplace we have not explored before. The weather for the coming week is not particularly attractive (two fronts, rain and easterly quadrant winds) for moving on. And there look to be 3 nice spots to explore along the river. So, we will hang out here for a little while.
I was a bit disappointed, at our anchorage in the Magothy river (Near Annapolis), to have a police launch come along side and very politely say that one of the shore residents had suggested perhaps we had stayed long enough and should be moving on. The police were very polite, and I was planning to move anyway, but it reflected a real change in the culture of an area that had been extremely nautical and friendly to cruisers.
