The fourth of July started with fireworks viewed from Mill Creek. Several boats rafted up, StarDancer, Better Together, Wham Bam and one other whose name escapes me. We grilled dogs and burgers, had a few cold ones and sat back to watch fire works in all directions. We saw Ft Monroe, Ocean View and the Naval yard with peeks of Norfolk. It was a beautiful night. The dark return was a bit tricky, boats out there with no lights, the trusty I pad got us back home thanks to Active Captain, my favorite navigation aid.
Friday we headed to Cape Charles City docks. These are new floating docks with a very nice bathhouse and you cannot beat the sunset. We sat on the dock as the s/v Virginia came in and watched the sun go down. If you want to dine out there is a seafood restaurant on the dock.
Saturday we visited the town, met the mayor who gave us a bag of cukes, we went to the wine shop where we bought snacks, on to the coffee shop for an iced coffee, and other small gift shops were visited where we left with a pirate hat and various other smart buys! We left the dock at 11:30 am and headed for Ocean View. The sail was great we had good wind. one we reached ocean View we dropped anchor and swam and had refreshments. The anchor was raised about 6pm when we headed to the Paradise tiki Bar at Ft Monroe. This is a great destination, beach, pool, band, tiki bar, food. it has it all. You can even rent a cabana! We headed back to Hampton about 7:30 pm, cleaned up and went to Musai Japanese Restaurant to end the evening. It was a great trip.
