22 September 2013 | Gorge Harbour Marina Resort on Cortes Island in Desolation Sound, Canada
Yesterday I luxuriated in a soak in the spa and took extensive advantage of the wifi, catching up with email, having a Facebook chat with Lisa and Claire, and losing myself in a Netflix movie after my spaghetti dinner. Sunday afternoon is well past its prime and, while rain has pummeled the marina, I have finished my monthly accounting and made a significant dent in my blogging duties. Ah, life on a boat CAN actually be civilized.
Though a stiff wind continues, the rains have abated for a while and I think I'll abandon my monastic writing obligations to go up and dabble in the luxury of an ice cream bar. Ta tah for now.
Post-script: My trip to the resort's little grocery to indulge in an ice cream turned, instead, into an over-indulgence at the restaurant. I really shouldn't come to places like this because I tend to over-compensate for the hardships of living rough at anchor. Maybe I'll consider my dinner of poached local oysters for starters, with a main course of braised half-rack of lamb and lobster tail, then dessert of caramel-apple cheesecake to be an early birthday present to myself. What do you think?
