Time to take my leave of luxury
23 September 2013 | Gorge Harbour Marina Resort on Cortes Island in Desolation Sound, Canada
It's now almost noon on Monday and I've been too long in the lap of resort marina luxury. My blog updates have been posted, and now it's time to head across to Manson Landing for a grocery run at their co-op. The prices at the store here are too rich for my taste.
As I said, though, it IS a very nice spot. Laurienne, the waitress, was very friendly last night and took the time to make me feel welcome. As she explained, it was the first day with their post-season "local" menu which, aside from the fancy fare I treated myself to, includes fish-n-chips and buffalo burgers, to name a few options that are more affordable to island inhabitants. I was made to understand that during the peak season they offer a more expensive fare that caters to a packed marina, presently virtually empty, and a harbor full of anchored boats.
I'm glad I'm here now and not then.
