Falmouth - It could be so much better
Ok , I try not to be negative with this blog and in my downtime I want to be in positive places and having a good time , I never really enjoyed Falmouth, it needs a big clean up and some effort from the council !
The town its self is run down , there are shop fronts boarded up , the streets are dirty , the cars park on the pavements , the civic buildings are a disgrace, we met a lot of American tourists in Falmouth from the vast array of cruise liners that docked there, there is money coming into the place.
The marina Port Pendennis as accommodating as it was, the staff are excellent , the prices ....ouch , eye watering !
The best thing Falmouth has going for it is the maritime museum , which is well worth a visit and the price of admission is an annual ticket that can be used for the rest of the year.
The displays inside are of special interest to sailors of all creed , whether racing or cruising , sail or power , there is a little history for everyone .The cafe inside is ... Ok .... The cups were dirty , the milk jugs worse , food is edible , but no awards .
Overall Falmouth isn't somewhere I would choose to come back too
The admirals bit : Great walks , especially during the winter months when the beaches are open for dogs , take a walk to the headland past the Pendennis ship yard and walk around YE OLDE castle.... Dont go in though .... OUCH well expensive and no dogs !
BEST CAFE: gylly beach cafe .... Not quite in Falmouth, but worth the fifteen min walk
