France Quiberon
We made it into Quiberon today, met by a marinero in a small RIB , a young girl , really polite , but said there was no room ..... bugger that means we have to carry on along the coast !
Just as we were turning ot leave she came back and put us on the commercial quay in front the police launch (bound to get inspected) at least we have an early finish and no hassle moving on.
The facilities here are quite good and a very busy destination, we watched mesmerised as sky divers drifted down towards the beach it seemed, their multi coloured parachutes spinning as they slowly spiralled down.
Twenty minutes later they were replaced with more parachutists and the rest of the days entertainment was seeing these (idiots) dare devils spiralling to the ground as group after group took to the skies - then fell back to earth.
We are now into August and the French holiday season so prices have gone up in the marinas, we were given a 45 euro per night bill for a pontoon here , the shower block is free but has seen better days.
Weather forecast shows stronger winds tomorrow but calming for Saturday and Sunday so we will most likely head further into Biscay over the weekend as the weather permits.
Repairs:
My new sails from West away in Plymouth are not a great "fit" and jammed in the mast track yesterday, my fear is they will jam on the way down in bad weather and cause me problems, so Im on the look out for a sail maker to alter the main at least.
Nelsons Bit :
The walking here is class , there are lots of places to get out and to see, there is a beach, but sadly closed to dogs in the summer months , which is fair enough i guess and something we expect to see more often now.
Its a short walk into town and beyond are rolling dunes and wide open spaces, ideal for a mad boxer dog to burn off some calories.
