Alicante..... Hmmm
Alicante was a last minute attempt at fixing an I Pad , not dads but mine ! When dads I pad took a soaking I lost the apps I have been using to film and edit movies and pictures, when I attempted to update my wifi only I pad it was corrupted and now won't work ...AGHHHHHHH !
We found the "local" apple shop was in Alicante so we took a detour and stopped off here for the night, it was blowing a Hoolie for the last couple of hours, we slid into Alicante sideways with little more than a handkerchief flying from the booms.
We were instructed to go to the waiting pontoon out side the dock office , a down wind berth in a dead end and I soon discovered it was occupied, fortunately I hadn't quite committed to going down the "alley way" and was able to spin around and avoid a problem.
Getting alongside proved to be a challenge but there was plenty of mariners there to lend a hand when we pulled up , which was really good news, unfortunately the French Amel that had been shadowing us most of the day didn't radio ahead but followed the pilot book instructions of tieing to the waiting pontoon that we were on and discovered , no room for them .... Oops
With no where to go and no options to turn around he battled with the wheel , frantically trying to pull back out, but to no avail , he slammed into the side of a motor boat, his bow tangled in the Miriad of ropes and passerels until he was trapped like the spider in a web .
We presented papers to the marina office and were given a berth number else where in the marina , which would obviously be a med mooring set up, I smiled and declined, it was easy blowing 30 knots, our wind alarm goes off at 25 and was whining at me when we were in the marina , so we stopped on the fuel berth over night.
€68 for the night ...ouch
The other down side for us old farts was the adjacent "disco" OMG was it loud OMG was it close ! I don't think I slept a wink that night, but I can now dance to drum and bass like a pro !
We only spent the one night there, that was enough and the Apple store was completely useless, the spotty young kid wasn't old enough to have owned a VCR and knew even less about I pads , preferring instead to direct us to a private facility (his mates) down the road.... Which was closed !
So can't post videos or pictures for a while, every one with a low band width can breath a relief, those with 4 G can load the blog within nano seconds, for me I now have to go back to the Stone Age and find an Internet cafe .
Alicante wasn't the best, some bits were old school , most were naff, the reception at the marina screamed out 5 Star hotel , the shower block screamed out Brothel .
Would we go back ? NO
