Orchid Bay Marina Recap

26 February 2018 | Orchid Bay Marina
Bob - beautiful sunny and about 80
We had a very good sale from Fort Pierce to Great sail Cay. We were joined by are very good friend Bob Semple for the Crossing. Winds were self Southwest 12 to 18 knots. Arrival at the bank met us with light winds and crystal clear waters and a very nice mutton snapper. We continued on the following morning to great Guana Cay. Sailed on the banks in light winds for the first six hours and cross the whale key passage by around 7 and anchored by 8:30 at Great Guana. Next day we shuffled to Marsh Harbour and stayed for two nights. Then we were off to our old favorite Hope Town and had several days of beautiful lighter breezes and tours of the town. We met up with a friend of ours a son of a friend of ours from Harbour Ridge who happen to be at the sea spray. Then we had a beautiful down wind Sail in some light rain to the gorgeous settlement Harbour buy both Grabbers and Nippers. Judy and I went snorkeling off the beach at Nippers this morning and Bob took a scuba Excursion. We're currently discussing the next course of action poolside. Bob heads out tomorrow back to Jersey. It's been wonderful having him aboard.

Bob/Sunny and windy

Fort Pierce to Marsh Harbour

20 February 2018 | Marsh Harbour
Bob and Judy 15-20 knots east 75 degrees and mostly sunny
23 hours from Fort Pierce to Great Sale Cay. 14 hours from Great Sale Cay to Great Guana Cay. Caught a Mutton Snapper on Little Bahama Banks. In the Bahamas "cay" is pronounced "key". My smartphone corrects it to cat lol! Love our new solar panel so much it's name is Ray Charles. Will try to link statistics on future posts. Weather has been beautiful, but too windy for snorkeling and scuba. Our uploads are slow. We heard a suggestion to raise a cell phone with a hot spot in a plastic bag up the halyard to get better connectivity! We have a spot tracker Gen3 and we are trying to tie this into the blog as well. For now as we "check in" the posts of our location ate on our FB news feed.

underway Ziegler to ?

30 July 2015
Enough wind to sail, so we headed out. Will drop anchor closer to Throgs Neck bridge and wait for the tide.

Zeiglers Cove

30 July 2015
Took dinghy up 5 mile river and went to Rowayton Seafood. Would highly recommend. Met a sailor from Keyport YC and he loaned Bob his diving belt, so Bob changed the zinc on our prop. A great stop.
