Dolphins, a pod of over 50, surge towards the bow desperate to be one of the few able to surf the wake. Whales leap from the sea to crash into spray on the horizon, whilst closer to the boat their companions flap fins and tails or blow bugles of spray in welcome. The bright yellow sands of Stockton bight divide the blue of sea and sky whilst flocks of shearwaters fluctuate between them. These are the perfect conditions of a homecoming.
